Now with critical path highlighting

Type a plan.
Get a Gantt chart.

Milestone turns a few lines of plain text into a full, interactive project timeline — dependencies, critical path, holidays, and resourcing worked out for you. No drag-and-drop forms. No 40-click task creation. Just type.

No credit card. Sign in with a passkey — no password to create or remember.

How it works

Your plan is a text file. That's the whole idea.

Milestone Markup Language (MML) describes a whole project — tasks, durations, dependencies, resources, budgets — in a format you could write in Notes app. No dialog boxes required.

1

Type it

Write a task per line. Add a duration, point it at what it depends on, tag who's doing it. That's a complete task definition.

2

See it

It renders instantly as an interactive Gantt, Week, Month, Year, or per-resource chart — drag to reschedule, and the markup updates right along with it.

3

Trust it

Critical path, resource conflicts, weekends, and public holidays in 100+ countries are worked out automatically — every time you edit.

Features

Everything a real project plan needs

Not a stripped-down "simple" tool — the parts that usually take a dozen menus to configure, without the dozen menus.

Plain-text planning

Milestone Markup Language reads like a to-do list and compiles into a full schedule — durations, lag/lead time, budgets, and checklist items included.

Full version history

Checkpoint a plan before a big change, then keep editing the live document freely — every saved version stays browsable, read-only, forever. Nothing is ever truly overwritten.

Critical path, highlighted

See exactly which tasks actually control your finish date — computed with a real backward pass, not a guess, and updated the moment anything changes.

Worldwide holidays

Assign a resource to a country and Milestone keeps their public holidays out of the schedule automatically — 100+ countries, no manual calendars.

Five views, one document

Gantt, Week, Month, Year, and a per-resource workload view — all driven by the exact same plan, so nothing ever falls out of sync.

Passkeys, not passwords

Accounts are secured with WebAuthn from the start — nothing to leak, phish, or forget. Sharing a project needs no login at all.

AI project creation from a spoken description Flexible FS/FF/SS dependencies with lag & lead Configurable sprints & off-time freezes Export to SVG, PNG, PDF, and .ics Read-only share links Light, Dark & System themes
Why plain text

The fastest part of any planning tool is the part you never see.

Most project tools spend your time on the interface: open a dialog, name a task, set a date, click into another field for the dependency, another for the assignee, save, repeat. Milestone skips straight to the plan.

  • Ten tasks with dependencies in the time it takes to type ten lines.
  • Every edit is a text diff — reviewable, versioned, never a mystery.
  • Don't want to learn the syntax? Describe the project out loud and let Miles, Milestone's built-in AI agent, write the first draft for you.

Security

No passwords. One less thing to secure.

Every account signs in with a passkey (WebAuthn) — backed by your device's own fingerprint, face, or PIN. There's nothing stored to leak, and nothing to phish.
